Independence Park Trot 5K Walk/Run
Independence Park Trot 5K Walk/Run is on Saturday, April 28 at 8 a.m. located at Waterfall Park. This is a family friendly event that encourages people of all ages to participate. Whether you are a first time walker or have been running for years, this course is fun, fast and flat. Best of all - its FREE! There is a kids fun run at 9 a.m. right after the 5K finishes. Open Music Jam - 12:30 P.M 1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesdays.
Bring your instrument and join the jam session.  You can also sign up to sing a song, sit back and enjoy the music or get up and dance.  Free admission.

Plant and Seed Distribution - Warm Season Plants
Warm Season Plants Available - includes tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, tomatillos, ground cherries and herbs. This distribution takes place at the Independence Health Department from 4 - 5:30 p.m. A Kansas City Community Garden membership is required to participate in this part of the program. Memberships can be purchased at each distribution, $2 low-to-no income and $12 for everyone else, cash only. Members are entitled to receive 10 packets of seeds (your choice), a five-pound bag of fertilizer, a community gardening newsletter, discount on additional seeds and fertilizer, a discount on vegetable plants and tiller loan privileges.
