City Council Meeting
The City Council meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers.
2017 Solar Eclipse Viewing
Grab lunch from a local food truck and watch and learn about the solar eclipse with us from one of the best seats on the planet! Independence is located in the solar path of totality - so we will be able to view a total solar eclipse. The path of totality is where the moon will completely cover the sun. Planning Commission
The Planning Commission meets at 6 p.m., usually on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month, in Council Chambers. Date may change due to holidays.
Toddler Town on Tour (11 of 12)
Ages: 2 – 10 Enjoy summer fun while exploring various playgrounds throughout Independence. Parks & Recreation staff will be on hand to help with simple craft projects. Toddler Town on Tour will be cancelled in case of inclement weather. Parents are required to remain with their children. No charge, no pre-registration.
Nature Story Time
Nature Story Time is a free program for the younger kids to explore nature, hear great stories and make nature crafts. Two programs on Thursdays through August: 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Call 816-325-7115 for details.
