Police Investigate Train Versus Pedestrian Collision

On June 14th at 3:57 AM, Independence police officers were called to a pedestrian struck by a train on the railroad tracks under Missouri 291 Highway north of E. 39th Street S. When officers arrived, they located a deceased subject, whose identity has not yet been confirmed. That information will be made available once identification has been determined and family has been notified.

One of the southbound Missouri 291 Highway lanes was shut down during the morning commute temporarily while police detectives and personnel from the Medical Examiner's Office were on scene.
