Aggravated Assault - Shooting Investigation at Burlington Coat Factory

At about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night (12-21-16), IPD officers responded to the area of US 40 hwy and I-70 on a woman who had been shot. She was found in her vehicle by a Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy who was driving along US 40 Hwy.

We learned that the woman was the victim of an attempted armed carjacking that just occurred in the parking lot of Burlington Coat Factory (11910 E. US 40 Hwy). IPD officers responded to the area and conducted an extensive search for the suspects, along with Jackson County Deputies. The suspects have not been apprehended, as of the release of this information.

The suspects were described as three black males. The victim was transported to an area hospital. Additional information will be released when it becomes available. This incident is still under investigation.
