Explosive Device Recovered in Stolen Pickup

At 3:08 a.m. today (August 20, 2016), Independence police officers pulled over a white pickup with stolen license plates at the Conoco at 10600 E. US 24 highway (Sugar Creek, MO). They were able to confirm that the pickup was also stolen. Two subjects were taken into custody. 

A suspicious device was located in the vehicle, along with body armor and suspected illegal drugs. The EOD unit (bomb squad) was deployed and are on scene. 24 hwy was temporarily shut down for about one block in each direction. The suspicious device was removed from the pickup and safely denotated by the EOD unit (bomb squad). 24 hwy was reopened.
