Public Invitation to the Police Officers Memorial Service on May 18th, 2016

Each year, during National Police Week, a local memorial service is held on behalf of the Independence and Sugar Creek Police Departments for police officers who have been killed in the line of duty. This annual ceremony is held to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The event will be attended by dignitaries, fallen officer family members, police officers from each department and officers from several other jurisdictions throughout the metropolitan area. The event includes a flag presentation by the police color guard, guest speakers, and a 21 gun salute by the police honor guard.
This will be a moving and meaningful ceremony, and on behalf of the families and friends of fallen officers, we invite you to join with us as we honor their remembrance and service to our communities.Please join us for this event on May 18th at 3:30pm. It will be held in front of police headquarters (223 N. Memorial Drive).
