Pursuit of Stolen Vehicle Leads to the Arrest of Three Persons

At about 3:00 pm today, Independence Police officers located a stolen vehicle in the area of S. Pearl Street and E. 23rd Street. The vehicle was a silver colored 2005 Ford Focus, reported stolen out of Clay County, MO. The vehicle failed to stop for the police officers and led them on a vehicle pursuit. Stop stick devices were deployed and slowed the vehicle to a stop at N. Overton Ave. and E. Scarritt Ave. Two of the three vehicle occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot, leading to a short foot chase. When the suspects ran from the stolen vehicle, it rolled into an unoccupied parked car in a driveway of a residence near the intersection. All three suspects were taken into custody.

The three suspects were placed on 24 hour investigative holds for various criminal offenses. Suspect information, as well as information on criminal charges, will not be released until charged are filed.
