Homicide Investigation- Shooting

On today’s date, at 9:43 a.m., police officers responded to 16900 Block of E. 41th Terrace South on a shooting that had just occurred.

One male subject was found in the front yard of the residence with gunshot injuries. He was transported to an area hospital where he underwent treatment. He was later pronounced deceased.

The deceased subject was identified as David J. Duncan, 45 year old black male, from Independence Missouri. Mr. Duncan’s family has been notified.

When officers arrived to the neighborhood shortly after the shooting, they observed a silver 2015 Cadillac XTS, bearing Missouri license plate HL1L5H trying to leave the area. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to stop and fled. A vehicle pursuit ensued. Police officers lost sight of the vehicle as it traveled westbound on U.S. 50 Highway, west of Unity Village.

The Criminal Investigations Unit is still investigating the incident at this time and is asking for assistance in locating the vehicle.
