Shooting Investigation at Phillips 66 (23rd and Crysler)
On 9-10-15 at about 6:09 p.m., Independence Police Officers responded to the area of 23rd and Crysler Avenue on a shooting involving two vehicles called in by several witnesses. Upon the officers’ arrival, several involved vehicles had already left the scene but the officers located evidence of the shooting. The shooting occurred in the parking lot of the Phillips 66 (Discount Smokes) at 1116 S. Crysler Avenue.
The shooting is still an active investigation at this time. One white male subject, 19 years of age, who was involved in the shooting was later located and transported to an area hospital with what was reported to be non-life threatening gunshot injuries.
The occupants of the pictured vehicles were involved in the shooting. We are concerned for the occupants’ welfare since they did not remain on scene and may have been injured. We are also interested in identifying the pictured male subjects (one white and one black) as well as the other vehicle occupants.
We are still gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses and following several leads at this time. This occurred near a heavily traveled intersection during a high traffic period so there are probably numerous witnesses with whom we have not made contact. Anyone with information about the shooting or the pictured subjects or vehicles are asked to call the TIPS hotline, (816) 474-TIPS(8477), or the Independence Police Investigations unit at (816) 325-7777 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
