Home Invasion

At approximately 4:45 a.m. this morning Independence Police received a 911 call that a house in the 11000 block of East 20th St. had been invaded by at least two or possibly three men, believed to be white males, demanding money and that one of the residents had been shot.

Officers and medical personnel were quickly dispatched and the victim who had been shot was transported to an area hospital in what was reported to be critical condition.

The suspects fled the scene before officers arrived in an unknown direction. Independence Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to process the scene and interview witnesses.

At this time the shooting victim remains in the hospital in reported critical condition and Independence Police are following up the investigation with all of the leads that have been obtained. It is an ongoing investigation.

If anyone has any information as to who the suspects may be or has any information that may be connected to the crime, we ask that you please call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477. Independence police investigators may be reached at 816-325-7777, or send an e-mail to leads@indepmo.org .
