 For Immediate Release: February12, 2015




On today’s date at approximately 1:42 a.m. police responded to the area of 600 N. Hocker in reference to a shooting.  Updated information reveals that the female victim of the shooting is the one who called 911 to report she had been shot.  A patrol officer responded to the area and found the victim along the street side. While waiting for EMS personnel to arrive, the victim gave a general description of the lone suspect as being a black male wearing a dark hoodie. After EMS arrived she was transported to an area hospital.

Information received from medical personnel is that the victim does not appear to have life threatening injuries.

Based upon information received at the scene, the Independence SWAT team and patrol officers established a perimeter of the area where it was believed the suspect might be. Officers went door to door in the area searching for the suspect and interviewing residents.

Police detectives are following leads regarding identity of possible suspect.
