Purpose: To establish an eligibility list for Missouri Certified and Non-Certified candidates. Minorities and women are encouraged to apply.

Position Summary: Position coordinates within various divisions of the Police Department relating to the protection of life and property; enforce state/federal law and municipal ordinances; preserve order throughout the community; and respond to community needs.

Minimum Qualifications (Post Certified Candidates): Missouri P.O.S.T. Certification, high school diploma or GED (college degree or college course work in criminal justice preferred), valid Driver’s License by date of hire, a good driving record, pass a comprehensive written examination, physical agility test, oral interview, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, undergo an extensive background investigation with the ability to render credible testimony in a court of law, pass a medical examination and drug screen, successfully complete a Field Training Officer program, and serve a 12-month probationary period after appointment. Bilingual Skills Preferred.

Minimum Qualification (Non-Post Certified Candidates): Pass a state certified police academy for a Class "A", P.O.S.T. certification with a minimum 600 hours, must be at least 21 years of age prior to completion of the academy, high school diploma or GED (college degree or college course work in criminal justice preferred), valid Driver’s License by date of hire, a good driving record, pass a comprehensive written examination, physical agility test, oral interview, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, undergo an extensive background investigation with the ability to render credible testimony in a court of law, pass a medical examination and drug screen, successfully complete a Field Training Officer program, and serve a 12 month probationary period after appointment. Bilingual Skills Preferred.

Salary and Benefits: The City offers a comprehensive benefit package which includes health and dental insurance, retirement program through LAGERS, paid holidays and vacation, in addition to a competitive salary range with an annual increase.

Hourly Salary Rate: $18.70 (Recruit/Non-P.O.S.T. Certified Candidate); $20.58 (P.O.S.T. Certified less than 3 years law enforcement experience); $22.91 (4 years of P.O.S.T. experience with comparable department)

Written Examination and Physical Agility Test: As part of the application process, you will need to take a written examination and physical agility test (Gym clothes required). Testing will occur during the month of March 2015. If selected to test, you will be notified by phone of the time, date and location of these tests.
