Reward Increased in Homicide

SUBJECT: Reward Increase to $7,000.00 – Homicide of Corey Laykovich

KANSAS CITY, MO --- The Independence, Missouri Police Department and Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers TIPS Hotline are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible for the July 2013 homicide of Corey Laykovich near the 3900 block of Crackerneck Road in Independence, Missouri.

Mr. Laykovich, a college student, returned home at about 2 a.m., after suffering a stab wound and was rushed to a local hospital where he died of his injuries. Today is the 6 month anniversary of his death. His mother, Michelle R. Metje, has increased the existing reward by contributing $2,000.00 to the fund. Ms. Metje can be reached at 816-616-0956 for comment. Further, the Corey Daniel Laykovich Burial and Memorial Fund has been established at Hawthorne Bank for additional donations.

The current reward stands at up to $7,000.00 for anonymous information, submitted through the Crime Stoppers TIPS Hotline, which leads to an arrest in the case.
