Two injured during attempted Armed Robbery

The Independence Police are investigating an attempted Armed Robbery that occurred at approximately 1817 hours on November 2, in the 200 block of N. Mo-291 Highway. The two victims were exiting a discount smoke shop when they were approached by an African-American male armed with a handgun. The suspect struck one victim with the handgun before shooting the second victim in the right calf. Both victims sustained non-life threatening injures and were treated at local hospitals.

The suspect was described as having a short “afro” style haircut with curls. He fled the scene in what is believed to be 90’s model, maroon Ford Taurus. No further description of the suspect is available at this time and no loss reported by either victim.
