                             Identify Armed Robbery Suspect Request

On June 18, 2013, at approximately 5:00 p.m. an armed robber entered the Family Dollar Store at 9120 E. 35th St. Independence, MO, and stole an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register.

The suspect entered the store and tried to create a distraction with other employees by claiming there was a spill of liquid in a back aisle. When the employees responded to the spill, the suspect approached the register clerk, brandished a handgun, took the money from the register, and left in an unknown direction through the front doors.

The suspect is described as a light skinned African-American, Samoan or possibly a Hispanic male, 6’ 1” to 6’ 2” tall, 250 lbs, goatee, brown eyes, red baseball cap, black zip-up hooded sweatshirt, gray undershirt, and black shorts.

If anyone knows anything about the suspect, recognizes him, or the crime that took place, please call the Tips Hotline at 474-8177 or the Independence Police Department at 816-836-3600.
