Maintenance Aide

$13.04 - $15.78 per hour

Performs general maintenance in City parks and athletic fields.  Operates trucks, trailers, mowers, trimmers, and various park-related equipment. Performs minor repair and maintenance tasks, including turf mowing and trimming, litter and trash removal, park shelter and restroom cleaning, graffiti removal, preparation of athletic fields and other grounds maintenance duties as assigned.  Assists with seasonal snow removal and performs related duties.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent.  Knowledge of safe and proper use of string trimmers, mowers, and various equipment.  Basic knowledge of construction skills.  Skilled in proper lifting techniques; care of paint materials and supplies and minor park maintenance procedures. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.  Must possess a valid driver’s license.  Requires Class “B” Commercial Drivers License.  Must complete required NIMS level training within first six months of hire. 

Physical Demands: Ability to bend and lift 75 lbs., plus or minus 25 lbs.  Hand dexterity to operate hand tools. 

Typical Working Conditions: Outdoor conditions of extreme heat and cold and adverse weather.

Hours of work 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with Rotating schedule to include weekends May 1 through October 31.
