Account Information Representative


Serves as a member of a quality-minded customer service team in the utilities division. Position includes extensive customer contact on the phone and in person. Responsible for coordinating utility services; including establishing new service, utility interruption, service terminations and transfers. Enters and retrieves data using a personal computer. Responds to service requests, explains charges, answers questions or concerns and assists clients through review and research of account information. Coordinates customer needs with other departments and field personnel. Processes payments, insufficient funds checks, and delinquent accounts. Reviews return mail, makes necessary account status charges. Conducts records reviews and account verifications. Compiles reports and statistical information. Performs various clerical duties including basic accounting, typing and filing and related duties. Reviews and makes appropriate adjustment to ensure accurate utility billing.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years experience in a call center responsible for customer service, billing or accounts receivable. Ability to communicate effectively orally, in writing and to maintain composure when dealing with the public, other divisions, and co-workers. Proficient in the use of office equipment (i.e. personal computer and calculator) and Microsoft software. Past positions should demonstrate outstanding listening, problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities. Must complete required NIMS level training within first six months of hire. Physical Demands: Sitting, standing and talking on the phone for extended periods. Manual dexterity to operate office equipment. Typical Working Conditions: Normal office environment.
