Construction Aide

$13.04 per hour

Performs routine construction work and/or maintenance duties within the Public Works/Maintenance Department. Shovels or rakes asphalt, sets concrete forms and aids in finishing concrete. Hauls material, operates snow removal equipment and small equipment, i.e. air compressors, jack hammers, concrete saws, pumps or compactors. Receives training in the operation of light and heavy equipment and performs related duties.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Knowledge of proper use of hand tools, city streets, and common safety hazards and practices. Experience in asphalt work, concrete work, and the operation of light and/or heavy equipment desired. Must possess or obtain a Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes. Must complete required NIMS level training within first six months of hire. Physical Demands: Strength and agility to lift and maneuver heavy objects. Ability to enter and exit confined spaces. Typical Working Conditions: Outdoor conditions of extreme heat and cold and adverse weather. May be called in after normal hours in emergency conditions.
