The City of Independence Technology Services Department is currently recruiting for an intern to perform work related to the design, development, and maintenance of the City’s web site for the Internet and Intranet. This is a temporary position with a maximum of 40 hours per week, over a period of three months. Designs and codes web applications using ASP.Net. Produces test data and performs comprehensive program and system tests to ensure conformance with design specifications. Integrates products with Microsoft SQL, Server, and other data sources for dynamic content. Creates user interface components.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Graduate currently enrolled and taking full load of courses in a recognized Computer Science program; working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Science field. Valid Driver’s license required.
Skill in: Communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines; researching, compiling, and summarizing a variety of informational and statistical data and materials; organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up assignments with a minimum of direction; using a computer to accurately and rapidly enter and retrieve data and information; Database Driven Web Application Development and Background.
Working Conditions: Normally in an office environment. Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and to reach with hands and arms.
