Dear JSCC Friends
We are saddened to report that Thomas Hall, husband of Independence-Higashimurayama Sister City Councilmember Mako Hall, passed away suddenly on December 31. Tom and Mako were instrumental in promoting the sister city relationship, as well as the Japanese Language Contest held at the Sakura Festival in April. Tom met Mako while studying in Fukuoka Prefecture and taught Japanese at Grandview High School for many years after returning to the United States.
Visitation will be Friday, January 5 from 6-8 pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel,18020 E 39th St, Independence, MO 64055. The service will be the next day,January 6th, at 2 pm. You can view the obituary and leave online condolences here.
