A burn ban has been issued for the City of Independence and goes into effect immediately through noon on Thursday, Nov. 10.
This burn ban has been put in place due to forecasted high winds and/or wind gusts.
In addition, the continued dry conditions and heavy layer of leaves on the ground poses a risk for quickly developing and rapidly spreading fires in the immediate area.
A determination will be made tomorrow afternoon as to whether the burn ban will be extended as conditions change with the incoming weather system.
Please take precautions to help keep our community safe. You can find all of the City’s open burn policies and procedures here, indep.us/openburnregs.
