Neighborhood Block Party Program

The City of Independence offers assistance to residents
interested in organizing a block party in your neighborhood.
In an effort to simplify the process you can visit to fill out an application.
Available May 1 - October 27


City Resources Available for Neighborhood Block Parties

Neighborhoods can request:

  • Portions of the street to be barricaded by contacting Independence Public Works Department.
  • Request a fire truck, engine or EMS vehicle to make an appearance at the Neighborhood Block Party.
  • Request a police vehicle to stop by the Neighborhood Block Party.

Due to COVID-19, Independence Parks/Recreation/Tourism will not be loaning out equipment in 2020 for this program.

The Independence Parks and Recreation Department has numerous games and play equipment that are available for loan for Neighborhood Block Parties. Groups are responsible for game and play equipment pick-up and return. Please click on the link below to see available equipment.
