Performs responsible and moderately complex clerical and customer relation duties within the Municipal Court. Computer operation to complete customer requests relating to continuances, court dates, warrants, dispositions of cases, account balance verification, and correspondence. Performs typing, filing, cashiering, bailiff, reconciling daily bond transactions and deposits. Handles cash receipts, receives, processes, and handles payments and insufficient checks. Compiles reports and statistical information for monthly report. Performs bookkeeping duties to balance journals and maintain financial ledgers. Responds to requests from citizens over the phone and handles complex customer service requests in person, interacts with defendants, attorneys, and other citizens requesting court date information or documents related to warrants, court cases, or granting continuances. Assists Municipal Court Judges’ and Prosecutors’ during court proceedings. Night Court sessions twice a month. Performs related duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or G.E.D., one year experience desirable as a clerk in a Municipal or other Governmental Court. Knowledge of Municipal Court operations and proceedings desired. Skilled in the operation of a personal computer and knowledge of Microsoft Office for Windows, Word, and applications related to the area of assignment preferred. Skilled in ten-key by touch. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Ability to maintain composure when dealing with customers. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; maintain confidentiality; deal courteously and diplomatically with the general public. Type 35 WPM required. Must complete required NIMS level training within first six months of hire. Physical Demands: Hand dexterity to operate a personal computer. Standing or sitting for extended periods of time. Bending, reaching, and stooping. Occasional lifting/moving up to 25 lbs. possible. Typical Working Conditions: Busy office environment. Frequent interruptions and crowded working conditions. Extensive contact with the public over the phone and in person completing customers’ and co-workers’ requests.
