Manages the congregate and home delivered meal program for older adults within the Parks|Recreation|Tourism Department. Performs work involving providing recreational, social, health and educational programs to older adults; and provides facility and staff supervision support to the Recreation Services Supervisor. Oversees operation of daily lunch program including enforcement of lunch program policies and meal reservation system; food service; home delivered meal delivery; dining hall and kitchen cleaning process; and meal and supply ordering. Performs in home assessments for home delivered meal clients. Plans in collaboration with others, menus for meal program to ensure balanced and nourishing meals for older adults. Hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers to assist with the lunch program. Promotes the lunch program and related activities through announcements, flyer development and typing monthly menu into calendar format. Coordinates transportation to the center for meal program participants. Plans and directs whole person wellness activities for older adults. Organizes and facilitates evidenced-based programs. Recruits and trains volunteers. Maintains records of older adult programs and completes monthly and other various reports as needed.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and one-year related experience; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Must possess a valid driver’s license, food handler’s permit, Basic First Aide and CPR. Must complete required NIMS level training within six months of hire. Knowledge of: Gerontology and the aging process; food service regulations and specifications; federal, state, and local laws and ordinances related to older adults; basic nutrition, health, and recreational needs of older adults; basic mathematics and bookkeeping; and computer usage and applications related to the work. Skilled in: Communication clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; and supporting positive interactions among participants within a community center setting. Physical Demands: Frequently required to walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, talk or hear, and lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Must be able to set up tables, chairs and move equipment as needed. Typical Working Conditions: Normal office and food service environment and various off-site locations. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, cleaning solutions and close physical contact with the public. May occasionally be required to work and/or answer City provided cell phone during irregular hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays) as needed to ensure operation efficiencies.
