Engineering Technician Supervisor

$4,670 – $7,005 monthly salary range

Supervises and directs the work of technical staff engaged in performing various duties related to engineering and technical projects.  Supervises activities related to the development of construction standards and specifications, processing easement acquisition documents, and AutoCAD and GIS operations.  Supervises a variety of administrative and technical functions in order to facilitate the progress or completion of engineering, construction or maintenance projects.  Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; and three to four years of progressively responsible related experience; including some experience serving as a lead worker/supervisor over less experienced staff; or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.  Requires Missouri DNR Drinking Water Distribution System III (DS III), when eligible.  Requires valid driver’s license.  Must complete required NIMS level training within the first six months of hire.  Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:  Knowledge, theories and practices of construction, civil engineering, water distribution systems; principles and techniques of drafting and surveying; AutoCAD systems and operations; principles of technical design and layout of construction projects; construction materials, testing, methods, stands and specifications; mathematical concepts related to the work; applicable state, federal and local laws, rules and regulations; computer applications related to the work including working knowledge of Microsoft programs, spreadsheets, databases, GIS, GPS Surveying equipment, and asset management.  Skill in using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines; researching, compiling, and summarizing a variety of information and statistical data and materials; organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up assignments with a minimum of direction; supervisory skills.  Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing; prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials; interpret and apply established rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; select, develop, organize, motivate, and effectively utilize staff.  Physical Demands:  While performing the essential functions of this job the incumbent is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; use hands to handle, finger, or feel; and to reach with hands and arms; frequently required to see, talk, hear.  Working Conditions:  Typically moderately quiet.  While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles.
