Purpose:  To establish an eligibility list for Police Grant Project Coordinator.  Minorities and women are encouraged to apply.

Position Summary:  Manages day-to-day operations of department’s various grant programs and contracts.  Responsible for writing and submitting grant applications.  Responsible for grant administration including research, writing, financial reporting, completion of objectives and reporting outcomes.  Researches and reviews information on available grant funds to determine feasibility of developing programs to supplement local annual budget allocations.  Presents information and makes recommendations on available grants and contracts to department staff.  Remains current with local, state, and federal ordinances, laws, and policies that would impact decisions related to grant programs, and/or require changes to existing department or city procedures to maintain compliance.  Reviews all expenses being charged to the grants and contracts to verify that they are allowable.  Maintains inventory of grant purchased equipment.  Serves as primary contact person for majority of department’s grant programs, and assists with monitoring visits from grantor agencies and annual city audit.  Assists with all other functions of the Police Department’s Fiscal Unit as necessary, to include equipment/supply orders, accounts payable and receivable, and assistance with training/travel requests.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a related field preferred but not required.  Two to three years of progressively responsible related experience, preferably in grant writing and/or grant management including planning, implementation, reports, budgets, and evaluation.  Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.  Must be able to type at least 40 wpm; may be asked to complete a typing test if selected for an interview.  Must complete required NIMS level training within first six months of hire.  Must have knowledge of record keeping, report preparation, filing methods and records management techniques; computer applications related to the work, i.e. Microsoft Office Word and Excel, Internet; and accounting and finance.  Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Tattoo Policy:  Tattoos, body art, or brands that are extremist, indecent, sexist, racist, offensive, or inappropriate for the law enforcement community are prohibited, regardless of location on the body. The final decision on the interpretation of a tattoo is determined by the Chief. An employee shall not have any tattoos, body art, or branding on the head, face, neck, scalp, or hands, unless authorized by the Chief because of special circumstances. While on-duty, excessive tattooing, body art, or brandings shall not be exposed or visible (including through the uniform). "Excessive" is defined as any tattoo, body art, or branding that exceeds one third of the exposed body part.

Starting Hourly Salary Rate:  $16.726
