Reviews Public Works permit applications, issues permits, monitors progress, and performs necessary inspections and oversight. Maintains a variety of records (electronic and hardcopy) related to Public Works projects, permitting, City property, etc. Inspects work performed by contractors, utilities, and property owners within public rights-of-way. Works with residents and businesses when requests/complaints are received and performs field evaluations, as assigned.  Prepares bills and notifications for utility companies as they perform work in City-owned areas or public rights-of-way. Will perform other related duties as assigned as applicable to Public Works Department. May work 12-hr. shifts during snow removal. AutoCAD experience preferred. CDL preferred.

Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent and three years of progressively responsible related experience, or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.  Requires a valid Missouri driver’s license.  Must complete required NIMS level training within first six months of hire.

Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of principles, practices and standards of surveying and drafting.  Skill in applying mathematical concepts and principles.  Skill and ability in recordkeeping, report preparation, filing, computer applications related to work including data input into Cityworks data management system, and general office practices.  Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and local laws, rules and regulations.

Physical Demands:  Hand dexterity to operate personal computer and other equipment related to job.  While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; use of hands to handle, finger, or feel, and to reach with hands and arms. May lift up to 25 lbs.

Typical Working Conditions: Working conditions are in both office environment and outdoor weather conditions.
