Video Production Specialist - Part Time (20 hrs per week)

$16.16 - $28.41 per hour

Performs duties associated with operating videotape machines, camera control units, studio cameras, video switchers, audio mixers, and other equipment used in the broadcast of live and taped television programming for the government-access TV channel. Creates content for and programs the on-air bulletin board system. Writes, produces, directs, shoots, and edits programs and other video projects. Maintains City 7 web pages, including live streaming and video on demand. Responsible for researching and acquiring suitable public service announcements and additional programming for City 7. Develops and programs a weekly broadcast schedule. Maintains Scala info channel bulletin board system. Researches and recommends purchases of new equipment and technology and coordinates installation and integration into the current system. Trains others to assist with the broadcast and to operate equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Four year degree in Broadcasting, Journalism, Communications, or related field; two years progressively responsible related experience; or any combination of education, training or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Experience writing video scripts and shooting public meetings preferred. Must be able to complete NIMS training within six months of hire. Knowledge and Skills: Basic principles and practices of broadcasting. Working knowledge of Photoshop, After Effects, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sorenson Squeeze, and AVID video editing software. Working knowledge of video equipment as well as shooting, editing techniques, editing audio including narration, music and sound effects. Coverage of live events using multiple remote control cameras. Ability to communicate effectively and videotape elected officials, staff, and citizens in a professional manner. Physical Demands: visual acuity, ability to talk, hear, and hand dexterity to operate computer and complex video production equipment. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.

Working Conditions: Frequently work in close quarters with little room for moving around and outdoors to shoot video for broadcast on governmental access channel. Must be able to work flexible hours to attend City meetings scheduled after normal business hours (every Monday night and Tuesday nights twice a month).
