COVID-19 Testing in the City of Independence

The City of Independence is committed to supporting the local, regional and state efforts to provide adequate testing in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. To this end, the City requested nearly $1 million in CARES Act funding to increase testing across Independence. Beginning in October, free testing will be available to anyone that lives, works or visits the Independence area for services, five to seven days a week with more than 100 testing slots available each day. These tests will utilize a new saliva-based testing system that can be completed in 10-20 minutes with results in 24 to 48 hours. All information will be kept confidential and results will be shared with the State of Missouri and Jackson County Health Department for contract tracing and regional statistics as required by law. At this time, tests are only available to individuals over the age of 18.
