My Pet is Lost

What to do if your pet is lost

  1. Visit the Regional Animal Shelter located at 21001 E. M-78 Hwy, Independence, MO 64057.  Bring a photo, fill out a lost pet report, and walk through the stray-hold areas to see if your pet is here.  You can view stray animals online on our Lost & Found page.
  2. If your pet is microchipped, make sure your contact information is updated with the microchip company.
  3. Go to all the shelters in your area at least every other day.
  4. File a Lost or Found Report with an area Lost and Found service. If leaving a voice mail message, be sure to include your phone number and a description of the animal.
  5. Check the local newspaper's Lost and Found section.
  6. Check social media groups on Facebook.  Community pages, neighborhood groups, and lost/found groups frequently list lost/found pets.
  7. Take a flyer to local veterinary offices.
