Severe Storm Weather Training
The Emergency Managers of Eastern Jackson County are proud to host the Severe Storm Weather Training presented by the National Weather Service, of Pleasant Hill, MO. The training is specifically designed for citizens, amateur radio, CERT, law enforcement, school groups and government agencies on how to identify significant weather events that you are experiencing and how to respond or communicate in a safe manner. 7th Annual Robert E. Tindall Scholarship Art Show & Sale
Exhibit Dates & Times: Tuesday - Saturday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., March 4 - 24. Public Reception Date & Time: Saturday, March 14. 1:30 - 4 p.m. Please join us during this free event that will feature an original painting by Robert E. Tindall, in whose name the Independence Art Association has given scholarships for over 25 years. Commemorative giclee prints of the Tindall print will be offered for sale at the reception, with proceeds going into the Independence Art Association scholarship fund. Local artist cards and prints will also be for sale. This event is offered by the Parks & Recreation Department, in partnership with the Independence Art Association. Manifest Destiny
2:00 pm Regular museum admission rates.  Guided tour.  Explore the concept of manifest destiny and the various forms it took in this thirty minute guided tour.
Full Moon Hike
Explore a new aspect of Spring with these free hikes during a full moon. Reserve your place by 5 p.m. on the Thursday before the hike by calling 816-325-7115. Each hike is limited to 12 participants. Part of the hike will go off the paved trail, so wear appropriate shoes. No baby strollers or light-up shoes, please.  Hike starts at 7 p.m. on March 6; at 8 p.m. on April 3 and May 1.
