The Independence Animal Shelter is now open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with pet adoptions beginning at 11 a.m. In addition, the Shelter will now be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month. If there is a fifth Saturday in the month, the Shelter will again be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
According to Health Director Larry Jones, this change should make it more convenient for families to reconnect with a lost pet or to adopt a new pet. "This is just one more way we are working for the betterment of our animals and the community," he stated.
Now is a great time to add to your furry family! Adoption specials will be offered while the Shelter remains full. Remember, all adoption fees include spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations.
