The "Enchanted Forest" returns October 18.

Children of all ages will enjoy the annual Halloween adventure “Enchanted Forest” at George Owens Nature Park, 1601 S. Speck Road. Gates will be open from 7 to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, October 18, 19 and October 25, 26. Admission is $3 per person at the gate.

Effie the Forest Fairy greets everyone at the top of the trail to cast the enchanted spell. Guided groups will travel along jack-o-lantern illuminated, paved trails with scheduled stops to enjoy short re-enactments of children’s favorite fairy tales, stories and movie characters. This annual non-scary family event is designed for children ages 3 through 9, but will be enjoyed by all.

At the end of the trail, a hay wagon awaits to take visitors on a ride past the lakes and by a light display made possible by Independence Power and Light.

The Enchanted Forest is sponsored by the Powerhouse Theatre Foundation and the Independence Parks and Recreation Department. For more information, call (816) 325-7370 or (816) 325-7115.
