Weather Spotter Training March 18
March 4, 2013
In conjunction with National Weather Service, Jackson County Emergency Preparedness Office, and Central Jackson County Fire Protection District, the Independence Emergency Preparedness Division is hosting the National Weather Service Weather Spotter Training at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Blue Springs High School, 2000 Ashton Drive, Blue Springs, MO.
This training is encouraged for all first responders, emergency management personnel, volunteer organizations, those whose primary duties are outdoors, and for the general public's understanding and recognizing various weather patterns and trends.
Andy Bailey, Chief Meteorologist of Kansas City-Pleasant Hill NWS office and a veteran of countless severe weather systems throughout our area, is the speaker at this event. Andy is an expert on Midwestern weather patterns who brings a sense of humor and the ability to translate weather techno-speak into everyday language. Everyone is invited and encouraged to participate. Local volunteer groups will have booths available with information pertaining to individual and family preparedness, the weather and its impact on this area, and other emergency preparedness topics.
