Palmer Center Activities and Events for November - 2017

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – The Palmer Center at 218A N. Pleasant St. in Independence, Mo., is operated by the City of Independence and is dedicated to the mission of improving the overall health of adults 60+. Holiday Lights Trip – Wednesday, December 13, 2017 Deadline to pre-register is November 30

Come join the festivities and view the holiday lights as we drive through the Christmas lights at Longview Lake. We will head down to Crown Center where we will stop for some free time so that you can have some time to walk around or shop. When we depart we will drive through the Plaza and see the lights and head up Ward Parkway. We will be making a stop in Overland Park at Vince and Associates so that we can see more lights that are timed to music. This is a great scenic trip that will get you in the holiday spirit! -Price: $34

New Theater Funny Money – Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Deadline to pre-register December 3rd but tickets go on sale November 11th.

Henry’s life is boring until he finds a briefcase that contains 1.5 million dollars in cash! Certain that the funds are crime-related, Henry decides to take the money and run. Tour Refund Policies

If you have registered for a tour and you have to cancel for any reason, it is in your best interest to find your own replacement. Please inform us of the change. If you can’t find your own replacement, the following will apply if you cancel the tour:

  • Before the original registration deadline—full refund minus a $5 processing fee.
  • After the deadline—no refund unless we receive another registration for the tour. If a replacement is found, you will receive a full refund minus a $5 processing fee.

We will do our best to replace your spot, by referring to the waitlist. Refunds will be sent within four weeks after the scheduled tour date.

REMINDER: If you are signing up a friend for a trip who has not previously registered, you MUST have their name, address, and birthdate and phone number.

Honoring our Veterans – Wednesday November 8th at 10:45am

One Community will be here to help us honor our senior Veterans in this special program.

Senior’s Christmas Celebration -- Friday December 1st at 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm (Doors open at 10am)

Puppetry Institute-Stars on A String – Friday December 29th at 10:30 am

Come watch the KC Puppetry Institute for A New Year’s Variety Show

The Palmer Center’s book club “Cover to Cover” – November 16th at 2:00 p.m. at Truman Memorial Building

For adults 60+ will meet at the Truman Memorial Building. November’s book is Readers’ Choice. Bring a favorite book to talk about and share with others. The Truman Memorial Building is located at 416 W. Maple in Independence, MO.

Storytellers – Thursday, November 9th at 10:15 a.m.

Come listen to Nancy & Mike Micham share some personal stories that intertwine music, laughter and tall tales.

Pets and Stories –Monday, November 27th at 10:30 a.m.

Volunteers from the KC Pet Project will be here to read pet stories and introduce us to some of their special guests.
