INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - In celebration of Farmers’ Market Appreciation week (August 6-12), the Independence Health Department will be sponsoring Farmers’ Market Appreciation Day on Saturday, August 12 from 9 to 11 a.m. This free event is designed to celebrate eating a healthier diet, trying new foods, picking up produce favorites and meeting the people who grow your food. Citizens are invited to see what the market has to offer including fresh, local, and healthy foods, and regional crafts. Activities include a food demo by a local dietitian, a visit from the Moose mobile, fun photo opportunities and activities for kids.
As part of the celebration the first 100 families can receive a market voucher for $5 to use towards fruits and vegetables.
