The Operations Division serves the emergent needs of the Community with response to emergency medical calls, fires and explosions, bomb threats, vehicle accidents, hazardous chemical spills, and other emergency calls. The Division assists the Community with non emergent needs by insuring compliance with fire codes, assisting the Fire Prevention Division in public education and responding to citizen requests for non-emergency services.
The Operations Division consists of 3 Shift Commanders who are assigned to one of the three shifts, working 24 hours on-duty followed by 48 hours off duty. The Operations Division employs 45 Fire Captains, 42 Fire Equipment Operators, 66 Firefighters and 3 Assistant Fire Chiefs.
During the 2010 year, the Operations Division responded to 16,718 alarms during their protection of Harry S. Truman's hometown.
