Loan Program to Finance Energy Efficiency
April 1, 2011
A new low-interest loan program is available to qualifying Independence homeowners to finance energy efficiency improvements for their residence. The IndependenceHELP loan program offers rates as low as 3.02% and repayment terms as long as 120 months. Many dif- ferent types of energy effi ciency measures may be financed through the program including replacement heat pumps, air conditioners, furnaces, windows and doors which meet or exceed ENERGY STAR® specifications. The City of Independence has initiated this program in partnership with City Credit Union and funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
“We are glad to be able to make this program available to Independence residents,” said Leon Daggett, Power & Light Department Director. “For many years, Independence homeowners have been able to take advantage of rebates for new qualifying heat pump, air conditioner and electric water heating equipment. Now, Independence homeowners have a fi nancing option for energy effi ciency improvements as well.” Independence homeowners can get information on the IndependenceHELP loan program by calling the Independence Power & Light Department at (816) 325-7485 or going to www.IndependenceHELP.org.
