Free Job Training Available For Those Interested in Environmental Remediation

Free Job Training in Environmental Remediation will be available to Independence residents this summer through a partnership of local governments and organizations, including the City of Independence.
The Training Program will begin August 5 and run through Sept 14, 2013. The Training Program is offered for unemployed or underemployed job seekers who are interested in finding a job in the Environmental Remediation or Abatement fields.
The Training Program will include certifications in 40-hour Hazardous Waste Removal, Lead Abatement and Lead for Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP), Asbestos Abatement, 10-hour OSHA Construction Safety, Mold Remediation and First Aid/CPR.
In addition, the program will include interview skills, resume preparation and other life skills training. Graduates from the training program will receive assistance in finding employment within the industry.
The Training Program is organized by the Metropolitan Energy Center, Inc. Partners include: Era Environmental & Safety, the City of Independence, the City of Kansas City, MO, the Green Impact Zone, Excelsior Springs Job Corps, and the YWCA of Greater Kansas City.
People who are interested in applying for the program should attend one of the following Information Session:
