The Comprehensive Planning division is responsible for guiding the City’s long-range planning efforts and the implementation of the City’s Comprehensive Plan for future growth and development as well as preparing maps and maintaining the addressing standards. This division also provides Census and demographic information, in addition to growth and development information to the community for projecting population, building and development trends and impacts. The division has developed GIS as a planning tool for the Department, and is leading the effort for city-wide implementation. The division also coordinates the annual preparation of the City of Independence Recommended Public Improvements (RPI), formerly known as the Capital Improvement Program.
The Comprehensive Planning division is located in on the second floor of Independence City Hall, 111 E Maple, Independence, MO 64050. Planners are available Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can be reached at (816) 325-7418.
