Behind the Scenes

City 7’s operations are based out of a studio in City Hall.  The City 7 Studio houses all of the City’s on-air and portable video production equipment, an Avid editing system, and video duplication equipment.  The editing system allows staff to import footage, digitally manipulate it, add graphics and effects, and then export the final product for playback on the channel.

Staff creates, edits, and schedules the informative slides seen on City 7 electronic bulletin board.

Everything played on City 7 comes from the Studio Control Room.  It holds equipment for playback, a satellite receiver and all the controls for broadcasting live meetings.

During City Council, Planning Commission, or TIF Commission meetings, City 7 staff uses three remote-operated cameras.  Various tape, DVD, and server machines record the meeting for later playback on the air, posting to the Web, and distribution to others.

To rebroadcast meetings and other programs, the Control Room uses a video server, five videotape machines and an automated playback controller.
