City of Independence launches public engagement for Strategic Plan Update

In 2017, the City of Independence launched the Independence for All five-year strategic plan. This plan included four key goals and more than 70 metrics to be completed in the five-year time frame. In preparation for the final year of the plan the City has launched a public engagement effort to review the current plan and prepare for the next two years.

“Independence for All provided us a framework of goals to focus on over the last four years,” Mayor Eileen Weir said. “We have completed more than 70 percent of the key steps we had outlined and it is now time to look toward the future. Due to the current safety challenges, we are focusing on a public survey to help engage with our citizens and get your feedback on where you think we should focus in 2021 and 2022.”

The Buck Stops here... and so should you. Take a quick survey to shape the next two years. With image of smiling Harry S Truman in the background. The survey can be found at indep.us/stratplanupdate2020. There will also be Truman images at key locations across the City with a QR code allowing residents to complete the survey from their phones while on the go. The survey will close on Dec. 31, 2020.

The final updated Strategic Plan will be presented to the public in early 2021.
