(INDEPENDENCE, Mo.) Monday, July 28, 2014 – As part of on-going safety inspections, Independence Power & Light (IPL) and contractor Finley Engineering will begin individual inspection and testing of power line poles throughout Independence beginning the week of August 4. Early identification of poles which may be rotted at ground level allows replacement before a storm could cause them to break, resulting in power outages.
Residents will see workers from both Finley Engineering and the IPL Engineering Division walking along the ground, many times along the back of properties, inspecting and testing the poles. All personnel will wear identification badges and reflective gear, and trucks will have IPL signage.
This work will begin in the southwest section of Independence, and will continue for approximately four months. If there are any questions about these critical safety inspections, please contact Steve Tiesing, IPL Distribution Engineering Supervisor at (816) 325-7453 or email@example.com.
