Honoring Our Veterans
The Palmer Center is honoring our nation’s heroes with "Honoring Our Veterans" event at 11 a.m. Friday, November 8 at The Palmer Center, located at 218A N. Pleasant St. All veterans are invited to be honored at this event.
Thanksgiving Candlelight Luncheon

Seniors’ Christmas Celebration
For all adults 50+ The Palmer Center will be hosting this holiday celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, December 6. Tickets are $5, non-refundable and must be purchased by November 27. This wonderful event will include a photo opportunity with Santa, a traditional holiday meal, music entertainment, and a chance to win a door prize. Shop ‘Til You Drop
Parks and Recreation, co-sponsored with Sugar Creek Parks and Recreation, invite adults 50+ to take a day trip to one of the best shopping events of the season in the Kansas City area. The Holiday Boutique at the Overland Park Convention Center features fashions, jewelry, gourmet foods, gift items, and holiday décor. Let us drop you off at the front doors, give you plenty of time to find those special items for the season and enjoy lunch on your own, then help you load everything up. You will enjoy the Enchanted Forest and get ideas for decorating your own wreath and tree. This fun event is from 9:30 to 3:30 pm. on Friday, November 15. Holiday Lights Tour
It’s that time of year again! Ride in luxury while viewing many of the area’s best holiday light displays. We have some new destinations to include with some of our favorites: Christmas in the Park at Longview Park; Christmas Place Neighborhood in Overland Park; Candy Cane Lane in Prairie Village; the Crown Center for coffee and restroom break; and the Country Club Plaza. Adults 50+ are invited to dine at Cracker Barrel (at your own expense) then enjoy an end-of-the-year celebration of the holidays. This joyous musical revue at the Chestnut Fine Arts Center captures the spirit of the season with a little humor, a little dance, and a little song. . . an irresistible holiday treat and perfect way to bring in the New Year! Afterward we will drive through Christmas Card Lane, where house after house has decorated for Christmas for the past 25 years. New Theatre Restaurant - Harvey
Judge Reinhold plays the affable Elwood P. Dowd, a man whose constant companion is a 6’ 3½" tall, invisible rabbit. When Elwood’s social-climbing sister tries to have him committed to a sanitarium, the insanity really begins! Intermediate Senior Tap Dance
Have you always loved watching a tap dancer? Listen as your feet rhythmically strike the floor to the tunes in this intermediate tap dance class and experience a whole new way to have fun! Please bring your own tap shoes. The next Intermediate Senior Tap Dance class will start on Wednesday, November 6. Adults 50+ are invited to a free Health Presentation from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 14 at The Palmer Center. This month’s topic is "Healthy Eating." Grief and the Holidays

Medicare Part D Enrollment
Review your health and prescription drug coverage options. This service, sponsored by MARC, will be held from 10 a.m. to Noon on Friday, November 1. The Palmer Center is located at 218A N. Pleasant St. You will need to bring your social security card and list of current medications with the dosage amounts. This will be a first-come, first-served basis with no appointments taken.
Cover to Cover
The Palmer Center’s book club "Cover to Cover" will meet at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 21 at the Truman Memorial Building. November’s book is "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" by Lisa See. The Palmer Center and Crossroads Hospice are offering a monthly grief support group from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday each month at the Truman Memorial Building. Any type of loss will be discussed, whether its loss of a loved one, driving abilities, independence, etc., as well as myths associated with grief. The Truman Memorial Building is located at 416 W. Alzheimer’s Support Group
If you have someone in your life that has Alzheimer’s Disease, please join us for this monthly support group. Sponsored by Three Rivers Hospice the group will meet every third Friday of the month beginning November 15 at 10:00 am at The Palmer Center, 218A N. Pleasant St. in Independence, MO.
Centennial Birthday Party Package
Adults celebrating their 100th birthday are welcome to celebrate this milestone by having their special day at The Palmer Center, 218A N. Pleasant St. in Independence, MO. Palmer Center Fitness Center Memberships
Adults 50+ are invited to tour The Palmer Center Fitness Room and consider joining as a member for a nominal annual fee. The Fitness Room includes several cardiovascular and weight-training machines.
