Street Maintenance Division

Street Maintenance is responsible for maintaining approximately 1,200 lane miles of city streets and 38 bridge structures. Maintenance of streets includes crack sealing, pothole repairs, road base repairs, sweeping, removing snow and ice. Staff also paints center and edge lines, crosswalks, stop bars and turn lanes, school crossings, parking stalls and City parking lots. This division maintains and installs street name signs, traffic control, advisory and hazard signs, and guardrails. Other duties include replacement of damaged or undersized crossroad culverts, trash and brush clean up, placement of barricades, clearing roadside ditches, and maintaining the City's sand and salt stockpiles.

Staff includes the Street Maintenance Superintendent, Dispatcher, six Maintenance Supervisors, three Assistant Foremen, eight Heavy Equipment Operators, thirteen Light Equipment Operators, five Sign & Marking Technicians and seven Construction Aides. They are located at the Central Garage and the Sign Shop on Crysler Avenue.
