Prescription Drug "Take-Back" April 26

(INDEPENDENCE, Mo.) Friday, April 18, 2014 – The Independence Police Department is again joining thousands of other law enforcement agencies across the country in the DEA-sponsored semi-annual national prescription drug “Take-Back” event on Saturday, April 26, 2014.

The public is invited to bring their unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs for safe disposal with no questions asked and at no cost.

The Independence collection site will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot north of City Hall, 111 E. Maple. People will be able to drop their drugs off in a drive-through lane without leaving their car.

Stadium Pharmacy, 4811 S. Arrowhead Drive, is also participating by adding drop-off boxes inside their business.

Police Sergeant Phil Hininger said, “This is an easy, safe way for the public to dispose of prescription drugs and over-the-counter products which have passed their expiration date or are no longer needed.”
