The City of Independence will hold an open house public meeting from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Thursday August 22 at The Little Theater in Van Horn High School, 1109 Arlington. Residents and business owners from the Truman Road corridor are encouraged to attend to learn more about the Truman Green Gateway Plan.
The City, in partnership with Jackson County and the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) are working to create a community-guided vision for the Truman Road corridor from Winner Road west to Interstate 435.
The community partners have enlisted the services of Confluence and Olsson & Associates to create a plan to address long-term community needs such as identifying future land use, green and open space concepts and trail connections as well as multi-modal transportation networks. The transportation network will address not only improved vehicular traffic, but also develop pedestrian and bicycle friendly connections. Input from the community will provide guidance and insight for the future of this important gateway.
