Mayor's Prayer Luncheon Nov. 22

(INDEPENDENCE, Mo.) Tuesday, October 22, 2013 – By popular request, the annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast has been changed this year to a luncheon. The meal will be served beginning at 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 22 at the Laurel Club, Community of Christ Auditorium, 1001 W. Walnut. The program, beginning at noon, will feature Lucas Boyce, Director of Business Development and Legislative Affairs for the NBA’s Orlando Magic.

Lucas is the author of Living Proof: From Foster Care to the White House and the NBA, published in January 2011. He travels throughout Central Florida and across the country giving speeches focused on leadership, team work, overcoming obstacles and making a positive impact on the lives of others. Boyce received his bachelor’s degree in political science and speech communication from the University of Central Missouri and graduated with an Executive MBA from Rollins College in May 2013.

As Director of Business Development and Legislative Affairs with the Magic, Boyce’s responsibilities include strategic business planning with a focus on developing a new sports and entertainment district (SED) in downtown Orlando. He also oversees the company’s efforts in statewide legislative and government affairs.

Prior to joining the Magic, Boyce served at the White House in the Office of Political Affairs where he monitored political activity and tracked key races. He also served in the Office of Public Liaison, where he directed African-American and Professional Sports Outreach in addition to work in the fields of healthcare and economic policy.
