Prescription Drug "Take Back" October 26
October 1, 2013

The Independence Police Department is joining thousands of other law enforcement agencies across the country in the DEA-sponsored national prescription drug “Take-Back” effort on Saturday, October 26, 2013.

The public is invited to bring their unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs for safe disposal with no questions asked and at no cost.

The Independence collection site will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot north of City Hall, 111 E. Maple. People will be able to drop their drugs off in a drive-through lane without leaving their car.

As an added convenience, Stadium Pharmacy, 4811 S. Arrowhead Drive, is also participating by adding drop-off boxes inside their business.

Police Sergeant Phil Hininger said, “This is an easy, safe way for the public to dispose of prescription drugs and over-the-counter products which have passed their expiration date or are no longer needed.”
