Mayor announces all public gatherings prohibited until March 31

Mayor Eileen Weir joins leaders of the Kansas City Metro Region in announcing that all public gatherings are prohibited until March 31 beginning at midnight tonight, March 16. Restaurants are allowed to provide drive-thru, curbside pick-up and delivery services, however all inside seating is prohibited. Bars and taverns are closed unless they provide food services. Grocery stores and pharmacies are treated as an exempted business. All other assemblies are limited to 10 people or less as announced by the President earlier today.

“As we have said throughout this event, things are moving quickly and we are making decisions very quickly to meet these changing needs,” Mayor Eileen Weir said. “We understand the impact this will have on our local restaurants, bars and taverns. We will revisit this daily to reopen all impacted businesses as soon as possible as appropriate for the public health.”
