INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – The City of Independence will be working with Peter Kageyama, author of “For the Love of Cities: The Love Affair Between People and Their Places” and “Love Where You Live: Creating Emotionally Engaging Places,” Monday, September 25, and Tuesday, September 26. Kageyama’s visit is made possible through collaboration between the City and the Independence Economic Development Council.
“I am excited to work with Peter over the next few days as we continue to think big and implement Independence for All,” Mayor Eileen Weir said. “Peter is a community development consultant and grassroots engagement strategist who works with cities worldwide on bottom-up community development. I know Peter will help community leaders and citizens continue to move Independence forward.”
Mr. Kageyama will participate in a planning meeting open to the public tonight, September 25, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Independence Utilities Center. This planning meeting will help shape the conversation during a workshop on Tuesday, September 26. The workshop will be shared with the public via Facebook Live on the City’s page at facebook.com/cityofindependence. The purpose of both events is to engage citizens and build community pride around the shared goals outlined in the new Strategic Plan, Independence for All, including economic growth, quality of life and a positive image for Independence.
